Meanwhile, Benita stood quietly behind the door, listening to every word.
Her eyes slowly hardened, and in that moment, a dark and dangerous idea began to form in her mind.
Benita picked up a pair of scissors one afternoon and carefully cut her uniform, making it shorter than usual. From that day on, she began to move closer to Mr. Williams whenever he asked for anything. Each time she served him, she leaned in slightly, almost brushing her skin against his.
But Mr. Williams did not react the way she expected. If anything, he seemed irritated by her strange behavior.
“Benita,” he said one evening, stone-faced, “don’t you think your uniform has become too short? Tell my wife to get you a more decent one.”
Without waiting for her response, he turned and walked away.
Benita stood there annoyed.
“Why is this man forming hard to get?” she muttered under her breath. “Or is he not even into women?”
She scoffed lightly.
“No, that can’t be possible. Okay, Mr. Williams, we shall see how long you will resist me.”
One morning, Evelyn called her into the room.
“Benita, please help me take this bag to the car. I’m traveling for a friend’s wedding. I’ll be back tomorrow. Please take good care of the house and make sure my husband eats on time.”
“Okay, ma,” Benita replied.
As Evelyn’s car drove out of the compound, Benita stood at the doorway, watching it disappear. A slow smile spread across her face.
“My time has come,” she whispered.
That evening, as she prepared Mr. Williams’ dinner, her movements were calm and calculated. She quietly dropped sedatives into his juice and stirred it gently.
stirred it gently.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Williams,” she said softly under her breath. “I have to do this. I may be a maid, but I deserve good things too. I can’t keep moving from one house to another.”
She served him the food and stood quietly by the door, watching as he ate.
Minutes passed, and slowly the drug began to take effect.
A few moments later, Benita tiptoed into Mr. Williams’ bedroom. He was already slumped on the bed in a deep, drug-induced sleep.
“Mr. Williams,” she called softly.
No response.
